About Rotary Club of Norwich St. Edmund
We are a dual-gender club of 24 members and welcome, as potential members, men and women who either work or live in Norfolk. Our membership is open to business and professional men and women as well as community leaders. There are no age or gender restrictions. Our members are willing and able to contribute time, energy and their vocational abilities for the benefit of others in the local and international community. Locally we support many charities, including St Martin's Housing Trust, Nelson's Journey and the East Anglian Children's Hospice. We are very proud to continue our support to the Rotarian Action Group Against Slavery, founded by our Club member Mark Little. Internationally we built several water wells in South Africa and Uganda. In collaboration with St. Peter Mancroft Church, in the centre of Norwich, each year we stage a Christmas Tree Festival in early December supporting local charities: In 2019 we supported the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital 'Boudicca Breast Cancer Appeal' and 'Friend in Deed', a small local charity attacking loneliness across the generations. Various businesses and professionals will be sponsoring the trees in an effort to highlight local needs.
Norwich St. Edmund Club, in collaboration with St. Peter Mancroft church, in central Norwich, staged their successful Charity Christmas Tree Festival in December, 2019.
Following the official switch-on by the Lord Mayor, the festival opened to the public for five days from 4th to 8th December, culminating in a Charity Carol Service at 6.30pm on the Sunday.
Over 30 trees were sponsored by local businesses and charities all beautifully decorated, reflecting the true spirit of the festive season, and greatly enhancing the experience for visitors. The very popular model train display was also enjoyed by visiting children and their parents.
